Andrews (Edward R.) House is built.

One of nine contiguous houses built as rental properties by shipping merchant and real estate investor John Lowell Gardner, it is located at 85 Marlborough Street. Its first occupants are the banker and businessman and his wife. Subsequent occupants include publisher George H. Mifflin and his wife. The building serves as the home of the Wyndham School, a secretarial school, from approximately 1940 to 1975. It is converted to apartments in 1977 and into condominiums in 1979.
